When my little one started growing and playing all by itself, I pretty much realized that it was high time I come up with a personalized play space for her.
Well, there are a lot of things that should be taken under consideration as your little kid starts growing up and one of the best options here would be to give them their own personal play space.
Like me, you too might not realize it at the beginning, but believe me- your toddlers too need their independence.
The best option here would be to come up with a safe and proper play area for your child. Now, as your home might not be the same as mine or anyone else’s, you need to put in a lot of thought and creativity to come up with the perfect play space for your little one.
However, there are always a couple of general tips that you can follow to come up with a safe play area for your baby. Here are some tips that really helped me out.
It Should Be Supervised From Time To Time
A perfect play area should always be consistently supervised by a responsible elder. It can be you, your spouse, any family member or the elder responsible sibling of your child.
But whoever it is, they should be responsible and caring enough to keep a watchful eye on your baby.
The perfect play area would be a safe area of your house that has absolutely no access to any kind of chair or furniture. It should be a place where your little one can comfortably play with their stuffed animal toy.
The area shouldn’t have any items that your child might trip over. It should also avoid every such item that might be used by your kid to climb over. Be extremely cautious in this matter.
Get Rid Of All Electrical Sockets From The Play Area
One of the best things to do would be to make a play area in a room that does not have any electrical sockets in the reach of your child. Even if it does, make sure that it is well-covered with a proper socket cover.
Try to avoid every kind of curtains, drawstrings or dangling cords in that area. These items might end up strangling your child if they are in his/her reach.
Play Area Should Be Spick And Span
This is something you have to ensure in order to take care of the health and hygiene of your little one. The play area you choose should be spick and span at all times. Remember, even the most trivial piece of dust on the floor will eventually end up in your curious child’s mouth which is definitely not a good thing for them.
Be sure to clean the play area from time to time and make sure that no foreign objects end up in your little one’s reach.
Use A Smooth Surface For The Play Area
Try to come up with a play area which is smooth as easy. As your toddler is crawling or slowly learning to take their first steps, it is pretty evident that they will trip a lot. An excellent way to avoid this would be by using interlocking foam mats. These play mats turn out to be a perfect floor for your little one’s play area.
Give Complete Attention To The Kind Of Toys You Splurge In
Yes. While looking out for new toys for your little child, always try to be extra attentive. This will further ensure that you get the best items for your child. Try to choose toys adhering to the age limits recommended by the manufacturers.
Also remember that any toy with a small part can be a major choking hazard. Children are more particularly attracted to toys with moving parts, but remember these moving parts too can be dislodged by your curious kid and eventually turn out to be a choking hazard.
Toys with magnets are also a major NO, because if swallowed, they can pose to be a major health threat for your little one. Their intestines can be damaged massively. In this regard, try opting for any stuffed animal toy as they are amazing to play with and also because they do not pose any major health threat for your child.
